The design of low bending loss single mode fiber consists of a germanium doped core and a silica cladding. A dual
protective acrylate coating is applied over the fiber cladding to cushion the fiber against microbending losses, provide
abrasion resistance, and preserve the mechanical strength of the glass. Each fiber is proof tested so that it will survive
installation loads and associated long-term residual stresses, even under extreme environmental conditions. Finally,
each fiber is measured for optical and dimensional properties for compliance with all specifications listed in the respective
fiber data sheets.
